Winter sports and snow funin the most modern skiing area in Germany

Ski lift carousel Winterberg scores with variety, comfort and quality

Germany's most modern ski area is located in the Sauerland: the Winterberg ski lift carousel is diverse and snow-assured. Here the season lasts from mid December to the end of March. And another thing: with 34 runs on seven mountains in a total length of more than 27 kilometres, it is the largest ski area north of the Main line.

Departures for every demand

Skiers and snowboarders experience winter sports at its best on slopes ranging from easy to medium difficulty and black. Beginners will find a rich selection of gently sloping slopes. But also those looking for a challenge will get their money's worth. Here there is even the steepest downhill run north of the Alps. A total of 25 lifts transport winter sports enthusiasts uphill. Snowboarders, beginners and parents with children will appreciate the fourteen ultra-modern chair lifts: In the mountain and valley stations, they slow down their journey for comfortable, safe boarding and exiting.

Winter sports from December to March

The ski lift carousel is also convincing in terms of snow reliability. 370 powerful snow generators cover 26 ski slopes and three toboggan runs with snow within a short period of time at temperatures below zero. Often the season starts already at the beginning of December. March is the snowiest month in the ski lift carousel: In the quiet off-season the slopes are also free - for many extensive downhill runs. To ensure that guests find perfectly groomed slopes in the morning, eleven large rollers are in operation at night.

Fairytale lands for the kids

Make way for ski dwarves: two large, colourful children's lands with colourful figures, games, a tepee tent and a "magic carpet" invite the youngsters to practise. Even four or five-year-olds can learn how to turn with a lot of fun. Nice ski instructors teach the minis their first turns in a creative way.

Skiing fun after sunset

When the sun sinks, the ski lift carousel really gets going. On up to 14 snow-covered, illuminated slopes, visitors can expect the largest range of floodlights in West Germany. Every Tuesday and Friday from 6.30 p.m. to 10 p.m., skiers and snowboarders carve under the starry sky - and then enjoy a break in one of eleven hospitable ski huts. The slopes are freshly groomed before each floodlight season.

Snowboard World Cup as guest

With the FIS Snowboard World Cup in mid-March, guests will experience an alpine contest in a class of its own. For some years now, the last race in the snowboard parallel slalom has been taking place in the Winterberg ski lift carousel. Thousands of spectators marvel at the skills of the world's best race boarders.
